COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Our community outreach has been essential to our standard of excellence.  Over the years, as part of our ongoing effort to promote fine art in the community, we sponsor a series of special exhibits. These exhibits showcase the talents of our local school and university students, professional artists and art organizations in the greater Dayton area.

Town and Country Fine Art Center has sponsored many community outreach projects over the years:

·     Red Paper Series 2003-2006 – Art techniques and classes presented by gallery artists for those who have had life-altering illnesses or circumstances. The 8-week series runs from mid-January through mid-March in two-hour sessions on Wednesday afternoons.

·     Intern Mentoring 2006 – Natalie Weaver, Sinclair Community College, 50-hour Business Art Internship for one quarter with Sinclair supervision by Jeff Vance.

·     2005 – 2007 - Monica Moscoso, Sinclair Community College, two quarters each of 20-hour internships (total hours 40) in Art Administration and updating the history of the Gallery. Since 2006-2007 Monica has been actively assisting us to update our web site.

·     1999 – 2006 Assisted Sinclair Community College students to take photos and assemble information for a compare/contrast paper focusing on specific pieces of gallery artwork for Instructor, Nancy Mitchell’s Art Appreciation classes.

·     2005-2006 - Awarded a $500 art scholarship to a selected Sinclair Community College student to use for tuition, books and/or materials in pursuit of an art degree.

·     2005-2006 – Hosted an award ceremony for student art created by abused children in the Children First Program sponsored by Montgomery County. This artwork is part of a therapy expression program that lets the children express their own feelings about being abused through artwork.

·     2005– Provided on-site supervision and assistance for students from Wright State University involved in “Rowdy’s Round Town 2005” project. These fiberglass figures were later sold at a public auction to raise funds for student scholarships.

·     2002-2005 – Hand painted musical instruments done by our artists were later auctioned to raise funds for the Dayton Philharmonic Volunteer Association’s Youth Symphony Scholarship Program. For several years gallery members also decorated art rooms for the Philharmonic Designer Showcase house fund raising project.

·     1994 – 2006 – Donated fine art to community non-profit organizations to aid them with their fund raising projects.

·     Hosted and held receptions for SICSA art shows featuring art done by talented four-footed artists that were auctioned to raise funds to help care for their furry friends.

·     Donated art to the Montgomery County Medical Association to help raise funds to provide medical student scholarships.

·     1994- Assisted in fund raising activities at the Mandalay Banquet Center for the Taste of Kettering.

·     We Care Arts - For many years our members have donated their time and energy to help this worthwhile organization.
