Town
and Country Fine Art Center has sponsored many community
outreach projects over the years:
·
Red Paper Series 2003-2006 – Art techniques and classes
presented by gallery artists for those who have had life-altering illnesses
or circumstances. The 8-week series runs from mid-January through mid-March
in two-hour sessions on Wednesday afternoons.
·
Intern Mentoring 2006 – Natalie Weaver, Sinclair
Community College, 50-hour Business Art Internship for one quarter with
Sinclair supervision by Jeff Vance.
·
2005 – 2007 - Monica Moscoso, Sinclair Community College, two quarters each of 20-hour
internships (total hours 40) in Art Administration and updating the history
of the Gallery. Since 2006-2007 Monica has been actively assisting us to
update our web site.
·
1999 – 2006 – Assisted Sinclair Community College students to take photos and
assemble information for a compare/contrast paper focusing on specific pieces
of gallery artwork for Instructor, Nancy Mitchell’s Art Appreciation classes.
·
2005-2006 - Awarded a $500 art scholarship to a selected Sinclair Community College student to use for tuition,
books and/or materials in pursuit of an art degree.
·
2005-2006 – Hosted an award ceremony for student art created by
abused children in the Children First Program sponsored by Montgomery County. This artwork is part of a
therapy expression program that lets the children express their own feelings
about being abused through artwork.
·
2005– Provided on-site supervision and assistance for students
from Wright State University involved in “Rowdy’s Round Town 2005” project. These fiberglass
figures were later sold at a public auction to raise funds for student
scholarships.
·
2002-2005 – Hand painted musical instruments done by our artists
were later auctioned to raise funds for the Dayton Philharmonic Volunteer
Association’s Youth Symphony Scholarship Program. For several years gallery
members also decorated art rooms for the Philharmonic Designer Showcase house
fund raising project.
·
1994 – 2006 – Donated fine art to community
non-profit organizations to aid them with their fund raising projects.
·
Hosted and held receptions for SICSA art shows featuring art done by
talented four-footed artists that were auctioned to raise funds to help care
for their furry friends.
·
Donated art to the Montgomery County Medical Association to
help raise funds to provide medical student scholarships.
·
1994- Assisted in fund raising activities at the Mandalay Banquet Center for the Taste of Kettering.
·
We Care Arts - For many years our members have donated their
time and energy to help this worthwhile organization.
